The constitutional capital is Sucre; however, in 1899 the government moved its functions to the city of La Paz, which has been working as the capital since then. The total population of Bolivia is around 10 million people; 1.6 million live in La Paz and the neighboring city of El Alto. Santa Cruz (1.5 million people) and Cochabamba (0.65 million people) are the other main urban areas. Salar de Uyuni, the world’s largest and most famous salt flat, is in Bolivia. |
